<p><a title="Keep Fit Be Happy" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/12836528@N00/2811161524/" target="_blank"><img class="alignright" style="border: 0pt none; margin-left: 5px; margin-right: 0px;" src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3266/2811161524_0b0d6c9ac7.jpg" border="0" alt="Keep Fit Be Happy" width="205" height="206" /></a>1. Exercise.  It&#8217;s not so much that I like the exercise itself (at all), but I do like the general sense of well-being and smug self-satisfaction that one gets after one has returned from exercise.</p>
<p>At least, I get the aforementioned smugness and satisfaction.</p>
<p>Elizabeth and I were quite active this weekend, relatively speaking, though the relativity there should not be underestimated.  We even went to the gym, which is somewhat remarkable given my <a title="Flab fighters, unite" href="http://siege-curmudgeon.com/2008/02/14/the-gym-one-day-following/" target="_self">previous forays into dedicated fitness facilities</a>.</p>
<p>2.  The Hip.  I know, I know, I need to <a title="Hip." href="http://siege-curmudgeon.com/2009/04/09/gratitude-04092009/" target="_self">shut</a> <a title="Hip." href="http://siege-curmudgeon.com/2009/04/26/music-place-and-space/" target="_self">up</a> <a title="Hip." href="http://siege-curmudgeon.com/2009/04/27/the-birthday/" target="_self">about</a> <a title="Hip." href="http://siege-curmudgeon.com/2009/05/01/on-staying-power-and-the-hip/" target="_self">the</a> <a title="Hip." href="http://siege-curmudgeon.com/2009/05/08/gearing-up-for-the-hip/" target="_self">Hip</a> <a title="Hip." href="http://siege-curmudgeon.com/2009/05/09/the-aftermath/" target="_self">already</a>.  Bear with me.  I&#8217;m still buzzing (and my ears are still ringing) from the <a title="The Greatest Show on Earth" href="http://siege-curmudgeon.com/2009/05/09/the-aftermath/" target="_self">concert</a>, and I just recently picked up two of their albums which I <a title="One of my all-time favourites" href="http://www.thehip.com/albums/index.html?AlbumID=9&amp;FlickrID=72157608857531885" target="_blank">didn&#8217;t</a> <a title="Another of my favourites" href="http://www.thehip.com/albums/index.html?AlbumID=12" target="_blank">have</a> before.  They are playing through my PC&#8217;s fair-to-middling speakers as I type, and are making me feel very soulful.</p>
<p>3.  Good sp0rtsmanship.  It allows me to remain friends with Diggory, even as he hands me the ass-whupping of a lifetime in our <a title="Mighty battling processers" href="http://siege-curmudgeon.com/2009/04/22/into-the-fold/" target="_self">folding</a> stats.</p>

<p>1. That I still fit into my pants.  I haven&#8217;t been travelling much at all for the past several months, due to budget constraints (which may not be <a title="A side effect of travel" href="http://siege-curmudgeon.com/2008/11/03/swearing-doesnt-make-me-feel-better/" target="_self">a bad thing</a>).  The catch with this is that it means I have very few reasons to don dress clothes any more, since I can work at home in my jeans and a t-shirt and no one&#8217;s the wiser &#8211; with the notable exceptions of <a title="More scintillating posts about my wife, Elizabeth" href="http://siege-curmudgeon.com/tag/elizabeth/" target="_self">Elizabeth</a> and <a title="Our roommate" href="http://siege-curmudgeon.com/tag/diggory/" target="_blank">Diggory</a>.  It also means that I have not really had a mechanism over the last few months to gauge my general <a title="A treatise on the pudgy" href="http://siege-curmudgeon.com/2008/10/18/i-am-a-fat-lard/" target="_blank">lardiness</a>.  So when I had to attend an event last evening that required me to wear slacks and a tie, it occurred to me that such a thing might no longer be possible with my current wardrobe.</p>
<p>Thankfully, the pants still fit (if a little snugly), and there were no dramatic explosions of tearing fabric in the midst of my presentation.</p>
<p>2. Lasagna.  Diggory has decreed that he will be making supper this evening, and has promised lasagna forthwith.  I expect fitting into my aforementioned pants will be significantly more challenging tomorrow.</p>
<p>3. Spring.  It is <a title="Mr. Bigglesworth on austinspad.net" href="http://austinspad.net/downloads/sounds/ap1/freezing.wav" target="_blank">frickin&#8217; freezing</a> around here and I&#8217;m about ready to be done with it.  It would be nice to go outside and not be immediately reduced to shivering convulsions in an effort to keep warm.</p>
<p>Plus, our <a title="Yes, it is a post about plants." href="http://siege-curmudgeon.com/2009/03/11/gratitude-03112009/" target="_blank">plants</a> aren&#8217;t doing so hot.</p>
