Gratitude – 03/25/2009
Today, I am grateful for these things:
1. That I still fit into my pants. I haven’t been travelling much at all for the past several months, due to budget constraints (which may not be a bad thing). The catch with this is that it means I have very few reasons to don dress clothes any more, since I can work at home in my jeans and a t-shirt and no one’s the wiser – with the notable exceptions of Elizabeth and Diggory. It also means that I have not really had a mechanism over the last few months to gauge my general lardiness. So when I had to attend an event last evening that required me to wear slacks and a tie, it occurred to me that such a thing might no longer be possible with my current wardrobe.
Thankfully, the pants still fit (if a little snugly), and there were no dramatic explosions of tearing fabric in the midst of my presentation.
2. Lasagna. Diggory has decreed that he will be making supper this evening, and has promised lasagna forthwith. I expect fitting into my aforementioned pants will be significantly more challenging tomorrow.
3. Spring. It is frickin’ freezing around here and I’m about ready to be done with it. It would be nice to go outside and not be immediately reduced to shivering convulsions in an effort to keep warm.
Plus, our plants aren’t doing so hot.
Oh no — what’s happening to your plants? Just pining for spring?
Well, we may have planted them outside just a tad early. Not all of them, mind you; just the ones that had taken over the mini greenhouse and were eyeing the supporting card table covetously.
I’m not sure if it was the transplant, or the sudden onslaught of sub-zero temperatures, but they are not looking terribly spry right about now.
