Gratitude – 12/10/2008
Today, I am grateful for:
1. The fact that my wife actually enjoys a home entertainment system. The other day, as I was driving home after dropping her off at work, I heard a commercial on the radio. Stereotypical Male was having a conversation with Culturally Aware Male about the surround sound system he had bought his wife for Christmas. Culturally Aware Male suggested that Stereotypical Male might want to have a backup gift, as Stereotypical Male’s wife might not appreciate the sound system to the same degree that Stereotypical Male would.
Ha, ha.
But it got me thinking; we recently purchased a surround sound system, and it was more at my wife’s insistence than at mine. Don’t get me wrong, I was not arguing against it by any means, but a stereo system had never really been that important to me. I was more about the visuals, so I was pretty content with the high-def TV we got a couple years ago (a purchase that my wife fully supported).
Of course, now that the system is installed, I am a complete surround-sound convert. To the point where I get grumpy if we’re watching a movie that’s only provided in stero.
My point with all this long-winded consumerism is that it’s pretty cool that my wife enjoys the audio-video system as much as I do. Maybe Stereotypical Male just married the wrong woman.
2. Tostitos and Sabra hummus. Do not die until you’ve had a chance to try this.
3. JD’s post on finding good wine at great prices. It’s good to know that you can enjoy a nice bottle of wine without having to auction off your organs.
