Gratitude – 11/11/2008
Today, I am grateful for the following:
1) Electric heaters. Because I work out of an office in the basement, we turn the heat way down in the rest of the house during the day. This morning, the outside temperature is a balmy 39 degrees Fahrenheit (about 4 Celsius for my friends in Canada), and the house is not a whole heck of a lot warmer than that. Fortunately, I have a trusty electric heater down here that is labouring mightily to keep ahead of the frosty chill creeping under the office door.
2) Google Analytics. I get a kick out of logging in and seeing how many people are hitting the site and from what geographic areas.

3) Motorcycles. A friend of mine just bought one, and I have been covetously thinking of it since. Growing up on a farm in Southern Ontario, I had a dirt bike, which was tremendous fun and which only really tried to kill me twice. It seems only natural that, at some point in my adult life, I should tuck a street bike under me and cruise off into the great wide open for a while.
My wife does not share this vision. Recently, however, she made a tactical blunder in saying that I could get a bike if I bought it with my own allowance (we’ve set up separate savings accounts so each of us can have no-questions-asked-impulse-money to do with as we wish). Now all I need to do is figure out a way to supplement my allowance to a point where I can procure a bike in less than 20 years.
